This is likely a 19th century “Dame-Jeanne” bottle, originally hand-made to preserve or mature wine, cider, or fruits macerating in spirits.

The wicker cover and handle were used to protect and carry the thick glass bottle. They were most commonly used from the 18th century to the early 20th century. This is an excellent example of French folk art and traditional basketry.

It is in good condition despite its age, with some light damage to the fiber.

Measures 13” tall, 8” diameter without the handle.
